Nasty is too harsh—Typical August.

Oh, well, on Saturday, I got 2.44" of rain going into this latest heatwave.  Oklahoma City got even more to the tune of 6.5".  It was the 7th most ever day of rain for Oklahoma City.  It put a big dent in the drought after a too dry July.

After 100 degrees high, a rather interesting stormy night here, even though I only got .36". The Guthrie area in the county to the southwest of me got a lot more, 1-2".  Oklahoma City missed out for a change.

For now, as of 11:15 pm, Tulsa and to the south of there is getting it with heavy storms, including some hail. 41st and Sheridan has stalled cars. KOTV-6.1 Tulsa is covering it non-stop and transferred the Late Show to 6.3. Their chief meteorologist, Travis Meyer thinks Tulsa won't make it to a 100 on Friday.

A new strong storm that popped up just to the south of Stillwater, merited a severe thunderstorm warning. It will miss Stillwater.

Hopping in here to mention something we haven't seen in West Virginia since before I was alive - we're looking at pretty significant drought issues in West Virginia.

I'm forecasting down in Beckley, WV as the chief at one of the stations down in that area - precipitation since June 1st is pretty staggeringly low.

Fall foliage is already appearing several weeks early with trees stressed which could impact a pretty potent revenue stream in WV this year. In addition, many farmers are struggling to provide water for their livestock and many wells have gone dry.

On top of that now, Francine is creating a setup that enhances our fire risk locally - the difference of pressure between a stubborn blocking ridge to our east and Francine's low pressure center is creating gusty wind - downsloping specifically - off of the Appalachians, which is a dry and warm airflow - could be bad news in the coming days and weeks if we don't see any meaningful rain soon.

On the flip side, I achieved my total average rainfall for the year a month ago. Can't say the last time that occurred. Not only, looks like Ileana will be bringing PW's we don't typically see this time of year, other than from the tropics, which this is. Could be quite a stormy and wet weekend!  =D>
